The theme for this year CodeFest App Development Challenge is Sustainability Living

You are tasked to create a mobile app (iOS / Android) to promote sustainable living in the green city of the future!

Topics are not limited to:

Genre: Mobile App Development

Maximum No. of Paticipants Per Team: 1

Theme: Sustainable Living

Platform Allowed: MIT App Inventor / Thunkable

Required Age: 12 – 16

  1. Participants shall create their mobile app project based on the below platform:
    • Recommended
    • Thunkable (iOS or Android)
    • MIT App Inventor (Android)

    Project developed with the below platform are accepted as well.

    • XCode
    • Android Studio
  2. There is no restriction on the number of user interface components, screens, media to be used.
  3. All work need to be original. Participants that copy or reference heavily from online or other party design and work will be penalized.
  4. Participants are not allowed to use offensive and discriminatory language or images in their project.
  5. Participant are to download their completed app to a mobile device to present to the judging panel.

Description Project displays good attempts to come up with unique ideas. Project reflects an excellent understanding of a wide range of coding concepts. Project utilizes beautiful and theme matching user interface components, media and artwork. Project is highly relevant to the theme, and there is a distinct display of Sustainability Living features. Project articulation with varying tone and makes use of gestures when presenting. Consistently establishes eye contact with judges.

Participants with the highest points wins.

  • Participant are given maximum 3 minutes to present their mobile app project to the judging panel.
  • Usage of PowerPoint slides, poster, or handouts to help with the presentation are allowed.

A surprise challenge will be given on the actual day of the competition.

Teams which manage to complete the surprise challenge will be given a bonus points of 10 points.
